Driven by a desire to be a catalyst for positive change in the world, Nial has always been the kind of person that others turn to for direction and clear feedback.
Nial is intrigued by the force and potential of the team dynamic realising that as individuals we have much to offer, but that we are more effective when playing to our strengths within a successful team environment. When Nial joined Ignite in October 2005 he fulfilled a life long ambition to work with top business leaders and teams on strategic issues.
As a Business Coach Nial embraces challanging assignments that provide an opportunity to achieve significant results which he likes to be measured on. He brings an innovative and future orientated approach, helping individuals and teams to find new ways to solve old problems and follow them through to a satisfactory conclusion. Nial has the uniquely creative ability to see the big picture as well as the smaller pieces of the puzzle. Nial brings clients his high energy and personal integrity, leading and teaching by example.
Prior to joining Ignite, Nial spent most of his working life in the role of coach. Having completed his early training in banking and finance with AIB he was appointed Branch Manager with Irish Permanent at the tender age of 25. In this role he led a team of people to achieve success and was quickly promoted to Regional Manager, Area General Manager, and ultimately to the executive team responsible for the running of the Bank as Head of Retail. Following the merger of Irish Permanent and TSB in 2001, Nial continued as a member of the senior executive team and was also appointed to the integration team which successfully completed the merger of the two banks over a 14 month period.
Nial is dedicated to helping make the world a better place for all. He is a Director of Cancer Care West, a cancer patient care organisation, and in this capacity has lead a team of people over the last five years to run the, now famous, Dr Joe Costello Memorial Celebrity Golf Classic which has raised substantial funds for the charity. Nial led the recent restructuring of the football club which has resulted in the recruitment of a new board of Directors. In a review of the National League conducted by consulting firm Genesis, published in September 2004, Galway United was cited as having the best strategic plan of any of the 22 National League Clubs.
Nial is married, with three children and lives in Galway.
