Executive Coaching...What is it? |
|
The primary goal of coaching is to improve a person's effectiveness at work in ways linked to overall business strategy and objectives. At Ignite we place a strong emphasis on alignment between what people want for themselves and what work gives them to support this ambition and vice versa. In Western Culture in particular there is a heavy emphasis on 'doing' as a means of achievement and a measure of success. This over-balance in favour of 'doing' works to the detriment of, and inhibits the value to be gained from understanding 'how we are' at work or 'being'. There is a huge dividend to be harvested from the improved balancing of 'doing' and 'being' at work. Coaching is one of the newest developments in the area of accelerated learning, high-level enhancement of performance and personal development. Research shows that coaching can be one of the most useful tools to bring about behavioural change and improved performance in individuals and teams. 'Executive Coaching is a facilitated learning, development and change process. The Coach acts as a facilitative change agent, sounding board and challenger primarily working one-to-one with and in support of the client in a collaborative equal partnership within a confidential and creative space. The goal of Executive Coaching is to create sustained change in the client’s behaviour, skills, beliefs, values, identity, purpose and performance for the benefit of the client and the sponsor.'
